Islamic State's Pakistan Branch Follows ISKP in Threatening the West and Foreign Interests
The Crocus City Hall attack in Moscow, Russia, on March 22, which the Islamic State carried out, sparked a new anti-West propaganda campaign by the organization and its branches, raising the threat alert in Europe, the US, and other countries. In parallel, between March and June, a high number of plots linked to the Islamic State were disrupted by security forces across Europe and Western countries, with an emphasis on the targeting of sporting events. Most of these plots were traced back to the Islamic State Khorasan (ISKP), which also became the most vocal Islamic State branch in threatening the West with attacks following the Moscow assault. However, since April, an offshoot of ISKP, Islamic State Pakistan (ISPP) has joined the propaganda offensive of other Islamic State affiliates, taking particular interest in threatening a series of sporting events in the US and Europe, imitating ISKP in the number of threats they released.
