The first guided missile to be introduced in the conflict was a short-range ballistic missile known as “The Striker” (Arabic: “Al-Qāriʿ”). It initially appeared in propaganda footage released by “Guardians of Blood Brigades” (Arabic: “Saraya Awliya al-Dam”), a subgroup affiliated with the Islamic Resistance in Iraq. In the following period, it was used in attacks targeting U.S. bases in Iraq during the escalation of hostilities in the region.
