Weapons Used by Communist Palestinian Groups in Gaza Since October 7

Following the attacks carried out by Al-Qassam Brigades on October 7, 2023, and the subsequent ground operations in Gaza, the Communist PFLP and DFLP (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, respectively) groups also took an active role in the attacks against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in the region.

Both PFLP and DFLP members participated in the attacks on IDF positions along the Gaza border on October 7. Members of these groups commonly use Chinese Type 56-1 AK-patterned rifles.

Later, the PFLP and DFLP also carried out attacks against IDF personnel in Gaza. Concurrently, DFLP published a photo of a sniper operating in the area.

This DFLP member appears to be using an Iranian 12.7mm AM-50 Sayyad anti-materiel sniper rifle.

Apart from this, the two groups also carried out many attacks using craft-made rockets and various mortars. The most notable of these mortars is an 82mm 82-BM-37 pattern mortar, used by DFLP.

In addition, 120mm Iranian DIO HM-16 mortars were used frequently by both groups. We also see that the groups are using Iranian-made M48 mortar rounds.

It may also be noted that some mortars are concealed for security purposes.

Finally, like all the militant organizations operating in Gaza, these two Communist factions also carried out various attacks using craft-made high-explosive rockets.
