In late 2023 and early 2024, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) carried out critical raids on Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) positions in Northern Iraq (Kurdistan Regional Government, or KRG).
As a result of these raids, more than 20 soldiers were killed and several more were injured.
The intense snowy and foggy weather in the region caused Turkish soldiers to not receive support during these raids.
The militants appear to be using more than one AK-74 assault rifle. At least one of these rifles is fitted with an AGM Rattler TS50-640 thermal scope.
