US-Origin Weapons Used by Non-State Armed Groups in the Philippines

When examining the arsenal of non-state armed actors operating in the Philippines, it is seen that these groups mostly use US-origin weapons and ammunition.

The most common of these weapons are 5.56x45mm M16A1 assault rifles and carbines.

M16A1 assault rifles (Colt 603) and carbines (Colt 653) are also produced by Elisco Tools in the Philippines under the names Colt 613P and Colt 653P, and these weapons are also used by various groups by US assault rifles.

It is also possible to see that some of these rifles are fitted with 40mm M203 underbarrel grenade launchers (UBGLs), also manufactured by the USA.
