The ongoing insurgency in Mozambique’s northern province of Cabo Delgado poses a significant threat to both the global energy sector and container traffic in the region. With liquified natural gas (LNG) demand at an unprecedented high, major energy companies have set their sights on Cabo Delgado’s substantial offshore reserves. However, the risks posed by the region’s unstable security situation have resulted in high costs and reluctance among investors.
