Georgian Security Service Conducts Raids Against Islamic State Cells

A Brief Analysis of Islamic State's Weapons in Georgia

In 2024 and 2025, the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) carried out operations against Islamic State (IS) Cells in various locations, including the capital Tbilisi.

In these SSSG operations, militants associated with IS were arrested, and various explosives, bombs, and weapons were seized.

In an operation conducted in Tbilisi in 2024, the SSSG seized a Soviet-made AKM assault rifle along with 7.62x39mm ammunition. It is seen that the fixed buttstock of the gun was removed to increase its concealment.
