Analysis: Weapons Used and Captured by Al-Shabaab in Recent Raid on ATMIS Base in Somalia

On May 26, "Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen," affiliated with Al-Qaeda, raided an ATMIS (African Union Transition Mission) base in Bulamarer, which is located approximately 130 kilometers southwest of the Somalian capital, Mogadishu. Militants killed more than fifty Ugandan soldiers, and they seized and destroyed a large number of weapons and vehicles.
